Ashton Payne is a New England photographer specializing in maternity photography, newborn photography, and custom family portraits. Ashton led an illustrious career as a professional videographer and editor for television commercials, where he honed his skills in lighting, composition, storytelling, and capturing raw emotion. Now, he’s turning his expert eye to portraiture photography to share one-of-a-kind images that immortalize the most unforgettable moments in families' lives.

Although he was deeply passionate about his career in the television industry, Ashton reached a turning point when he welcomed his first daughter to the world. He and his partner were approached by a photographer in the hospital who offered to take photos of their newborn daughter. Excited to capture this life-changing moment, they considered it. But, while looking through the photographer’s photo album and price list, Ashton noticed that not only were the newborn portraits prohibitively expensive, but the quality of the photos was poor.

Ashton, who had been expertly trained to develop a keen eye for framing and lighting, knew that he could seamlessly translate his extensive experience in film and television to capture his own photos of their daughter—and so he did, and the results exceeded his expectations.

He realized he was just one of the countless families approached by overpriced photographers providing low-quality newborn portraits. Not wanting other new parents to go through what he had, he decided to pivot his career into family, maternity, and newborn portrait photography.
